Replication of obsolete parts
Action parts for these pianos are not in current production. This means we replicate original parts as necessary. We have the machinery, appropriate stock of woods, and knowledge of the materials to reproduce parts of an action or indeed whole actions. It is common for us to reproduce the entire hammer shank set. These pre-1900 Chickerings mostly do not have the dreaded brass flanges of post-1900 Chickerings. They often do have brass flanges, but the pre-1900 style flanges are robust and maintain quite stable friction levels. They are well designed parts and do not fracture like the post-1900 flanges do.
