Chickering 106

Chickering 106c c late 1880 (undated) 6’-3” , 88 note, Erard action, yacht tail Parlor Grand. Partially restored 2020.

Soundboard had been replaced we suspect by the Chickering factory early 1900’s. The floating soundboard which was in the patent of the 106c had been previously removed. So the soundboard is a traditional perimeter glued assembly. Soundboard restored. New pin blocks, bridge caps. Paulello nickel plated plain wire, Paulello core copper wrapped strings and soft iron wraps in transition areas at the high bass. Ronsen Bacon felt hammers. Single offset keys fully restored, shimmed and spaced with Tharan mineral plastic keytops. Action replaced as we had not solved the obsolete parts problem yet and the hammer shank line needed too much work to be functional for the long haul. WNG composite parts configured in original flared design. Original leverage respected.
